Requirements
- A video calling platform (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Zoom)
- A device for each player from which they can join the video call
- A house full typical household objects, appliances and mechanisms for each player
A Sound Idea is a competitive game played over a video call.
First, decide which player will go first. This can be determined randomly, or you might decide to let the call host go first.
Turns
On a player's turn, they must switch their video off or cover their camera, then perform an action that creates a sound (e.g. turn something on, tap two of something together, knock on something). The other players then have one minute to guess what the sound is. If a player guesses correctly, they are rewarded with the next turn and the current player is rewarded with a point. If no one guesses correctly, the current player receives no points but may choose who will take the next turn. And of course, they can't nominate themselves.
Ending the game
The game can continue indefinitely, so you might choose to play for a set amount of time and see who has the highest score at the end, or agree beforehand to aim for a particular score and declare the first player to reach it the winner.
